Mike’s article is appropriate at this time as we celebrate our 9th Appreciation Banquet this Sunday.   You may have noticed the dedicated people sign up to help time and time again-not because they need points, or they have a passion, but because no one else has signed up and they enjoy the events & don’t want them to be cancelled.  In 9 years we have had to cancel only 2 food events because volunteers cared enough to make all the others  happen.  By this time of the season our food volunteers just get burned out and I don’t blame them for wanting to take time out and kick back and relax.  They should be able to sit down and enjoy a meal prepared by still “other volunteers”.  It is not fair that these people who have given of their recreation time are not able to benefit from the very program they have worked hard and sweated to make  a roaring success for you week after week.  If you don’t give  -  you don't get.  thing I can “Our treasured volunteers”, will be recognized and will be able to sit down, relax and enjoy a special meal on us in your honor this Sunday.                             Lisa

        VOLUNTEERS MEAN       EVERYTHING

The season is fast coming to a close. We have all enjoyed the activities, parties, burger bashes, dinners, breakfasts, bingo, etc. these functions can only continue with the hard work and time volunteered by Tim, Lisa & Seasonals of BHHP. If you want these actives to continue, you need to volunteer. Most functions are fairly easy but none the less scary the first few times. Kind of like learning to ride a bike, once you know how you never forget.

Last weekend, the pancake breakfast was canceled. Not due to lack of participation in eating, but lack of participation in getting the job done. While there were 32 people signed up to eat, only 4 out of the 10 positions necessary to put on the breakfast were filled, and one person was doing 2 positions, clean up and dishes.

If you were a seasonal when it was Pin Oak, before Tim and Lisa bought the park, we had only an occasional function, not something going on every weekend day. We were campers then, now we are a community and we need everyone’s support to make it a continued success.

You don’t have to volunteer for every event, but once or twice a month and we can keep the current level of activities and maybe even add a few more. Come on everybody, join in the fun now, roll up your sleeves and PITCH IN. This park is your park and will only be what you want it to be.

P.S. Be kind to the volunteers, they are only volunteers, not paid professionals working tirelessly without complaining. If the function is a little late or the food a little too well done, they are doing their best and not sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone else to do the work. They are learning as they go and deserve all the thanks we can give them..

Thank you…Thank you…

Thank You !!!
