time of learning when both Michael and Charlie lead him between pastures.  He is also coming up to  many more people for petting and scratching.  We also gave him a hair cut which he just stood for as if he had had it done a hundred times before.  It is such a joy to see these little milestones.

If you want to pet him go into the pen just beside our carport. This is not electrified and doesn’t encourage him to touch the fence and get shocked. Not nice for him.

According to the National Retail Federation, $8 billion in sales will occur for Father’s Day.  Clothing still represents the most popular gifts, especially shirt & ties.  The first recorded necktie was worn by the First Chinese Emperor, Shih Huan Ti, in 210 BC.  Neckties have included bandanas, bolos, ascots, bowties and designer ties of the 1960’s.  In honor of that tradition, here are some facts about proper neckties from “2000 Years of the Necktie”.  “The knot should be not so large as to spread out the collar, nor should it be so tiny as not to be seen. Neckties should generally be 3 1/4 inches across at the widest point. The tie then tapers off to the short end.  Ties are available between 52 and 58 inches long.  When knotted both ends of the necktie should reach the belt.  While each end should be roughly the same length, the wider part may be slightly longer.”

Father's Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of men who have had a positive influence in your life. It is a day to not only honor your father, but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life - whether it be Stepfathers, Uncles, Grandfathers,  "Big Brothers” or someone else close.  Our hats off to all the “Men” who have been a part of our lives!

Happy Father’s Day

Fathers’ day

is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June. On this day, children honor not only their father, but all men who act as father figures. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends are all honored on Father's Day.  Many don’t know this, but roses are the Father’s Day flower: Red roses are to be worn if the father is still living and white roses are to be worn if the father is deceased.

Father’s day first came into practice in Spokane Washington in 1909.  A woman by the name of Sonora Dodd thought of the idea while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon.  Having been raised by her father when her mother passed away,  Ms. Dodd, wanted him to know how special he was.  Her father was left to raise 6 children on his own.  Since her father was born in June, she chose to hold the first father’s day celebration in June.

Here are some important dates in the history of Father’s Day:

·         1910 Spokane, Washington celebrates Father's Day.
1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father's Day.

·         1926 The formation of National Father's Day Committee in New York City

·         1956 Father's Day was recognized by Joint Resolution of Congress

·         1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring that the third Sunday of June as Father's Day

·         1972 President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday in June.

Father's Day is celebrated in every part of the world.  In the United States, Canada and most countries in Asia, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June.
