Straight from the Horse’s mouth

Well as you all may have heard we had quite

a weekend but firstly I want to thank Stef and

Olivia both for cleaning the tack room and

heaping up the poop in the arena area. Annie

and Paige also cleaned out the trailer

readying it for the show. It is this sort of

responsibility that we hoped the horse program would instill in our kids.  They are all showing incredible progress with their riding with many achieving small jumps and galloping.  The kids are showing tremendous selflessness with the horse riding and sharing riding times.  They are always willing to help and want to give the horses lots of attention and love.

On Friday we took 8 of the kids to a tack, carriage and draft horse auction in Mt Hope.  It was quite an experience for all  of us and no we didn’t get any more horses.

We all had a good time but  while there we had 2 calls of people concerned about 3 youths using foul language and loutish behavior.  There wasn’t much we could do from there.  On Saturday about 9pm the same 3 youths came strolling down the drive and I  just happened to see them. I approached them asked them to leave and that this was the 3rd time they had been here and I didn’t ever want to see them again.  Well that should have ended it but typical teenagers they couldn’t keep their mouths shut and started mouthing off.  It then seemed obvious to me that they just weren't going to get it and would be a continuing problem.  I decided  that I would use the ATV to scare them a bit.  As I sped towards them I thought that they would attempt to get out of the way, well two did and one didn’t meaning I had to take drastic measures to avoid hurting him.  Putting the ATV into a skid and tipping it on to its side it skidded into him just hitting and knocking him over but not hurting him.

One of the other boy’s yelled “lets get the ?” which brought in the Calvary to my defense.  Thank you all for that.

Well it wasn’t what I had intended but it well and truly made the point to our local youth.  One of the youths parents called the Sheriff and I ended up being sited for a misdemeanor for

which we went to court on Monday and got my hand smacked and $100 fine plus court cost.

This could have been a lot more serious and after having been to court I would handle things a lot differently as the judge takes trespassers seriously and would make a point.  This isn’t the first instance this year as some kids on ATV’s decided to start speeding through the park.  I chased them with the ATV and caught them to their surprise.  We haven’t seen or heard of them since.

I will continue to go to great lengths to protect BHHP and keep it the safe sanctuary we have grown accustom to.  So to help us protect you, our kids and the sanctuary of BHHP we ask that if there is ever anything out of the ordinary please call us anytime of the day or night.  You can use our Cell phones: Lisa 419 677 9358 and Tim 419 677 1298.  We can’t reiterate how important it is for you to get involved and call. It will always be kept confidential.  We have had in the past situations like spousal abuse  that didn’t get reported until the next day.  We can’t help or do too much at that point to prevent things from escalating out of control.

Please help us keep BHHP safe

Black top grindings

I was told years ago by the State road workers that black top grindings had to be mixed with new black top and that they couldn’t give it to us.  Well, with that I never pursued it further.  This past weekend Joe Skaggs said that a local trucking company has the grindings so we got some to see how it would go.  So far it looks pretty good.  Before you get excited and think that we are going to do the whole park, forget it because we just can’t afford to.

If 2/3rds of the campground agreed to pay just $30 then we could do it billing everyone!  There is a sign up sheet in the lodge if you want it.

And then there were none.  This week saw 2 more employees leave.  Randy with a bad back and Jared with inexperience.  Ground maintenance is about all that is getting done.

2006

Hi,  I’ve thought a lot about BHHP the last few weeks and I have come to only ”One” conclusion-What a lucky person I am to be surrounded by the beauty, friendship, safety and all around “special” place BHHP is.  Tim mentioned having employees; we all know how hard it its to get good help sometimes.  Since I live here & work third shift-I see him working everyday along side of Patti, Mel, Cheryl, Lisa & Jared trying to keep up with all if takes to run BHHP & keep it special for all of us.  There is so much they do-you don’t realize how much unless you see it and even then you don’t see half of it.

In the past newsletter, it was mentioned what the park was like before we got lucky and Tim & Lisa started BHHP.  Believe me, it was exactly the way it was described.  My family and most everyone else never left their campsites-simply because there was no reason to.  In other words-no activities, no lodge to speak of, no pool, no bocce, no golf course, no fish, no trails, no animals, no garden-Nothing. So, sometimes if you think it takes a little longer to get something done, remember maybe something more important needed done first or maybe the repairman is on his way, but he had previous commitments.  Our own lives aren’t perfect, though we keep on trying, just like all the fine folks at BHHP.  I ask you this weekend to take the time to stop, walk or ride around and take a look at what you have here.  I guarantee it will put a smile on your face-it always does for me!

Let’s also give a great big smile for Fran & Missy-our third wedding!  What does that say in itself about BHHP?

Have a great weekend-I know I will !!!                          Sharon
