Straight from the Horse’s mouth
The mini show on Sunday was nothing short of spectacular for many reasons. 1. The kids turned out in force at 7.00am to get the mini’s ready. The really deep clean bath they got made them beautiful. Glory’s white was so white that she would have made a great commercial for bleach. It didn’t matter what they were asked to do they did it willingly 2. The turnout from parents, grandparents and other interested BHHPers was impressive. We by far had the biggest support group which made it an even greater experience. I was amazed at the turnout which goes to show the great community we have. 3. We all went with little expectations and hoping to learn a lot so we could do shows in the future. Well when Teddy (presented by Annie) got a sixth place in the ‘solid color’ category we all went nuts. Our expectations changed to maybe we could get placings. Of course there were also the disappointments as dealing with an animal that has it’s own mind can make it challenging to say the least. When Glory wouldn’t run in the Liberty class and couldn’t be encouraged to do it Jenna and Hannah could do nothing but wait for the music to stop. Of course Jenna didn’t have to chase her to put her halter on. When Magy decided she wasn’t going to jump in the Adult Jump Class I had to put my tail between my legs and retire from the ring. Ah, but wait till next time. 4. Everyone who showed acted like true pros. Whether in glory or defeat they were humble and shared the experience with everyone. No ONE was a winner we ALL were. Thanks kids for making it such a memorable day The enthusiasm is unbelievable but we are not sure we can find another mini show close to home . We are looking at doing the Berlin Heights Basket Festival Parade and a carriage trail in the fall. |

Now doesn’t that say it all? It definitely was a group effort. The happy faces were abundant all day long and a long day it was. We left the campground at 7 am and returned at 8:30 pm. |

Wow, Sunday was such a great day with perfect weather, 12 youths and high spirits. On our way to the show I cautioned everyone that the day was just for fun and not to expect any ribbons. I didn’t want them to get their hopes up since our little beauties are not quite perfect (they are in my eyes, but I knew they may not be in the Judge’s). Was I surprised when they made me eat my words. The first hint that we could place was in solid colored geldings when the Judge nodded to Annie & Teddy to go to the center of the ring. We were all so excited for them we could hardly contain ourselves. When they announced 6th place we all went nuts. That was the beginning of lots of hugs, slaps on the back and hi fives, not to mention lots of high pitched screeches (mostly coming from me I might add). Our cheering section was the largest, of course it would be, BeePers are known for their ceaseless support. Thanks to all for bringing pop & snacks-it was really appreciated. The kids were wonderful. All day they pitched in caring for the animals and were ready to help with anything we asked. When they needed help setting up for the jumps and obstacles they were there in seconds. I’d like to thank them all for “everything”. Abby, Alicia, Alina, Annie, Charlie, Erin, Hannah, Jenna, Michael, Olivia, Stephanie, Tyler. |
